Dear Rethinkers,

I came across a wonderful quote this week:

“The best way to complain is to make things” — James Murphy, founder of LCD Soundsystem

I wish we lived in a world with less critiquing and more creating. It’s one of the reasons why I write Rethink – to create a space to connect, reflect, share ideas and prompt readers to be more curious and make things. I’ve discovered that as we get older, ‘making’ things (outside of work or cooking) is quite confronting for many people. We don’t have time. We don’t know where to start. We haven’t created a space in our house for mess. An easy way to get started is by cutting out things you love and making physical pinboards.

I’m constantly collecting a miscellany of things — thoughtful reads, mundane objects flipped into something magical, observant listens, idea fragments... things that embody a cultural interestingness for whatever reason. I deeply believe the act of curation in itself is what leads, over time, to pattern recognition. I used to share my Rethink Reads, but there is so much more to the process than just reading.

That’s why I’ve decided to do something I’ve never shared before. Once a month, I’ll share my curatorial pinboard of things that I hope indulge your curiosity in some way (none of these things are sponsored links, by the way). I hope you enjoy them and do share yours, if you feel like it.

Note: Due to the nature of this week’s post, it might get cut off in your email, so don’t forget to expand it!
