I'm a writer and there are times, when the usual delay tactics haven't kicked creativity into action, that I just have to type. Get it down -- the magic can come later. At times it's also helpful to try and tell the story to an imagined person. A decent storyteller edits as they talk and in "performing" for an imagined audience the important elements come to the foreground.
I can absolutely relate to the loud inner voice, which generally appears after the 'idea' stage. It helps to work with a team, or in the very least, have a mentor(s), otherwise the voice can become quite negative and I stall or lose interest.
