I believe I understand this Rachel. Thank you for your intentional and thoughtful approach. I wish you all the very very best in this measured approach. I already look forward to your work arriving in my inbox, and will continue to do so.
I'm grateful for this reminder to pause and refocus; to ignore the noise and stay connected to the communities that invite me to think more deeply and align with what I see as my purpose. Thank you for connecting with the quiet inside.
Thank you, Rachel. That makes absolute sense. The world is full of hot takes and ephemeral phenomena.
I would much rather have something of substance to think through with higher involvement than a barrage of things I can neither make time for nor provide value in a way that other publications don’t.
Good for you! Yes - please help us reduce the "noise," and stay focused on things that stretch us. I appreciate your candor and consideration for those of us fighting the "cultural quicksand!"
Being very intentional and disciplined in what you choose to do? Create the space for people to slow down just a little? Having no idea why we correlate growth and productivity with doing more? Create mental space for thinking differently? For making complex things clear. For joining the dots across disciplines? YES! You speak my language. Appreciate you.
I could not agree more. The whole news and opinion sharing has gotten totally out of hand. Sense is there is so much societal division-created anxiety out there, many (uggh like me)choose to mindlessly scroll, read, share and move on to the next fleeting, addictive thought.
I confess to substack addiction, subscribing to 24 with some paid subs with intent to add Rachel to the latter group. Like Meta et al infecting young minds with social minutiae, even the whatever three LLC owners of substack are busily monetizing their monopoly on the backs of writers struggling to “achieve” the 10% paid subs benchmark. There should be some means by which substack writers are monetarily rewarded by measures other than sub numbers paid and unpaid. Why doesn’t substack share their monetization $bounty via an independent fair evaluation board that structures substack compensation based on subscribers’ opinion re quality/thoughtfulness et al as Rachel has elevated to and not sub numbers?
So in a year or so watch substack expand its digital and physical footprint globally and resist the urge to buy their IPO at the market top.
I always look forward to reading your stuff but sometimes I miss it amid the noise. I have no problem with this plan. Do you know when you will be posting each month so I (we) have a sense of when to expect it?
Thanks all for your thoughtful and kind comments. Here's to more thoughtful, deeper content and less "cultural quicksand" (well put, @amyvaldezbarker)

Thank you and AMEN!
Rachel, Good decision. Quality over content churn.

Love this Rachel. I’ve had similar thoughts myself recently. Would be good to chat about this. I’ll drop you a message.
There is a lot out there, the noise is deafening. Thank you for writing this as a reminder.
Love this for you and honestly I so appreciate the idea that this is less frequent and more special.

Oh the draw to do more…. Ah! Must… have… restraint! 😬
Well put Rachel. I look forward to the 15th Sept 😃
